KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Day celebration tomorrow will be meaningful as it is being celebrated together with the National Day, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor.
He said Aug 31 was an important date and rooted in the nation's history.
"It is not just for remembrance and celebrations but to be embraced by the spirit of patriotism as well as in appreciating the great courage and sacrifices of the country's freedom fighters," he said in a statement.
He also called on Malaysians in Sabah to be steadfast in protecting the country's sovereignty and to continue to celebrate National Day and Sabah Day in high spirits and humility.
"The things that unite us such as peace, harmony, unity in diversity and our aspirations for progress and development far outweigh those that divide us.
"Let us keep in our hearts that the National Day and Sabah Day celebrations belong to us. Let us stand firm in support of the government and not be influenced by negativities that threaten to divide us," he said in his 2024 National Day and Sabah Day message.
