KUANTAN: Newlywed royal couple, Tengku Puteri Raja, Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and her partner, Fd Idzham Fd Iskandar, performed the traditional 'istiadat berinai' (henna application ceremony) at Balai Temenggung, Istana Abdulaziz here today.
The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was first to apply a dab of henna to the palms of Fd Idzham followed by Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah and Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah who were all dressed in matching light blue baju Melayu.
Others who applied henna on the bridegroom were Tengku Panglima Raja Brigadier General Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah, Tengku Panglima Perang Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu'adzam Shah, the bridegroom's father, Datuk Seri Fateh Iskandar Mohamed Mansor and Pahang Mufti Prof Datuk Dr Asmadi Mohamed Naim.
Tengku Puteri Afzan tied the knot with FD Idzham with the akad nikah (solemnising of marriage) performed at the Istana Abdulaziz last night.
The Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, led the other women guests for the henna application ceremony on Tengku Puteri Afzan followed by the Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah along with other members of the royal family and the bridegroom's mother Datin Seri Hafizah Mohd Zakaria.
The sitting in state ceremony will be held at Istana Abdulaziz on Aug 25 (Sunday).
