Kuantan abuzz over tonight's royal wedding

KUANTAN: People here are set to witness a second Pahang royal wedding this year when the second son of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah, ties the knot with Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan tonight.

The akad nikah (solemnisation ceremony) is scheduled to begin at 8pm in Balai Mahkota, Istana Abdulaziz, here.

The bride's father, former federal territories minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, will be solemnising the royal couple's wedding.

Tomorrow, the royal wedding will proceed with the istiadat berinai (application of henna ceremony), followed by the istiadat persandingan diraja (royal wedding reception) on Sunday. All ceremonies will be held at Istana Abdulaziz starting from 8pm onwards.

The akad nikah, istiadat berinai and persandingan diraja ceremonies will be broadcast live through two giant screens for the public at the Kuantan City Council Field 1 here and one put up at Dataran Muzium Diraja in Pekan.

A string of activities, including musical performances, games and food stalls have been set up at both locations together with the royal wedding live-broadcast events.

The ceremonies began with the istiadat meletak kerja (initiation of duties ceremony) at Istana Abdulaziz here on Oct 22, which was marked with a 16-cannon salute.

The wedding tonight is the second involving the Pahang royal family after Tengku Muhammad Iskandar's younger sister, Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, tied the knot with Fd Idzham Fd Iskandar in August this year.
