Still no sign of sinkhole victim after 24 hours [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty-four hours have passed since a search and rescue operation was launched for a woman swallowed by a sinkhole in Masjid India but there is still no sign of the victim.

Yesterday, the search for 48-year-old Indian national Vijayakumar had to be stopped at 1am due to heavy rain. Only her slippers have been recovered.

The search continues today, with teams from the Fire and Rescue Department and Kuala Lumpur City Hall being assisted by the police who have cordoned off the area.

Last night, it was reported that the search for the woman was focused on a sewage pipe.

Indah Water Konsortium has also opened up manholes along the 7km sewage line between Masjid India and Pantai Dalam to find the victim.

The woman's eldest son, Surya, 26, has appealed to the authorities to help save his mother who fell into the sinkhole while walking in Masjid India.
