BESUT: A Perodua Viva driver and a biker on a high-powered motorcycle were killed in a collision in Kampung Baru, Kuala Besut, around 9.30am today.
District deputy police chief, Deputy Superintendent Azrol Anuar Nor, said the driver, Aziz Deris, 59, from Kuala Besut, sustained severe head injuries.
The motorcyclist, Mohd Alfendi Che Mat Nor, 38, from Jerantut, Pahang, also suffered severe head and bodily injuries.
Both died at the scene.
"The accident is believed to have occurred when Aziz, who was travelling from Jertih to Kuala Besut, made a sudden U-turn from the left side of the road.
"This caused the motorcyclist on the right lane, riding in the same direction as the car, to crash into the vehicle on the driver's side," he said.
Their bodies were sent to Hospital Besut for a post-mortem.
"The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
