Royal wedding of Pahang sultan's daughter concludes with grand ceremony

KUANTAN: The royal wedding of Tengku Puteri Raja, Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah, daughter of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and Fd Idzham Fd Iskandar, concluded today with the 'istiadat bersanding' (sitting-in-state) ceremony at Istana Abdulaziz.

The three-day event began on Aug 22 with the 'akad nikah' (solemnisation of marriage) ceremony, where the couple was officially wed by Pahang mufti Prof Datuk Dr Asmadi Mohamed Naim, representing Al-Sultan Abdullah.

Following the solemnisation, the groom performed prayers and presented the 'mas kahwin' (dowry), consisting of a copy of the Quran, to Tengku Puteri Afzan.

The couple also exchanged wedding rings, and the 'merenjis' ceremony was performed, led by Al-Sultan Abdullah and his consort, Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

On the second day, the traditional 'istiadat berinai' (henna application) ceremony took place at Balai Temenggung, Istana Abdulaziz, with Al-Sultan Abdullah and other members of the royal family participating.

Today, the 'istiadat bersanding' ceremony was held to celebrate the union, attended by members of the royalty and other dignitaries.

To allow the public to join in the celebrations, two giant screens were set up at Kuantan City Council Field 1 and another at Tasek KotaSAS, where large crowds gathered despite the uncertain weather.

Visitors came prepared with umbrellas, foldable chairs, and mats, making the most of the opportunity to witness the event.

The celebration was lively, with photo booths and vendor stalls set up at both locations.

A booth manned by Bentong Prison, featuring textiles and products made by inmates, was particularly popular among the crowd.
