KUALA LUMPUR: A woman who lost her identity card in 2008 has found herself registered as the mother of three children.
Wong, 38, reported her IC as lost in 2008 and received a replacement.
However, when she attempted to register her marriage in 2015, an officer from the Ipoh National Registration Department informed her that records showed she had three children.
Datuk Seri Michael Chong, head of the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department, today said the suspect in this case was Wong's uncle.
He allegedly used her lost IC to register the children, as his wife was suspected of being an illegal immigrant.
"She was referred to the Putrajaya NRD.
"She managed to register her marriage with her new IC in November 2015," he said at Wisma MCA.
He added that Wong had requested the removal of the names of the three children from the records.
He said Wong had also received a message from a money lender demanding repayment of RM90,000.
However, Wong's case remains unresolved.
She added that this was the fourth NRD officer assigned to her case, with a fifth expected to take over soon.
"I am concerned that the syndicate might use my identity for illegal activities, putting my family and me at risk."
