GEORGE TOWN: Just two weeks after TheFat.Burger owner Ashwad set a record with a RM350 nasi kandar plate, a new challenger has raised the bar.
A Kedahan recently demolished a plate of nasi kandar valued at RM372, surpassing the previous record.
The feat was achieved solo and was highlighted on Nasi Kandar Sulaiman's Facebook page.
"It could be due to Merdeka," the post read.
"The man came by himself to break the record, and we didn't expect someone would come and set a new one."
The new record holder consumed an impressive spread: 25 squids, 10 prawns, a fish head, two squid eggs, two fish eggs, and five servings of rice, all in 75 minutes.
"He really went all out," said a spokesperson from Nasi Kandar Sulaiman.
On Aug 20, Ashwad had set the record by eating a RM350 nasi kandar platter, which included rice, 33 prawns, two squid, a chicken, a fish head, a boiled egg, okra, onion egg, and squid egg.
He completed his meal in an hour.
"It was quite a challenge," Ashwad had commented on his feat.
Nasi Kandar Sulaiman's Facebook post, humorously expressed surprise at the new challenge to its record, stating, "It seems the competition for the nasi kandar title is heating up!"
