Cops, DBKL to discuss fixing Masjid India sinkhole

KUALA LUMPUR: The police and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall will discuss fixing the sinkhole in Jalan Masjid India.

This comes after the authorities called off the search and rescue operation to locate a woman who fell into the sinkhole last Friday.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulizme Affendy Sulaiman said the discussions would be held today.

He said DBKL would provide details on the areas affected by repair works.

"So far, we do not see the need to deploy policemen (at the sinkhole site)," he said when contacted.

However, Sulizme urged the public against entering areas that have been cordoned off for their safety.

Yesterday it was reported that the search and rescue operation for G. Vijaya Lakshmi, 48, would be called off due to safety concerns.

The Indian national fell into the sinkhole on Aug 23 while walking in the area.
