Selangor Perhilitan captures crocodile at Shah Alam lake [WATCH]

SHAH ALAM: A crocodile spotted at the Section 7 lake was captured by the Selangor Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) last night, less than 24 hours after the trap was set.

Selangor Perhilitan director Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh confirmed that the crocodile had entered the trap at 10.20pm.

He said the department would monitor the area for two more days, during which the lake would remain closed to the public, to ensure there are no other crocodiles present.

"Alhamdulillah, the operation has been successful and we rescued the 1.68-metre (m)-long saltwater crocodile weighing about 15-20 kilogrammes (kg).

"This operation was successful because we managed to clear the recreational area at night, thus minimising disturbances. This led to the crocodile going into the trap that we had set using fresh chicken as bait," he told the media after the operation last night.

Mohd Adib said the crocodile will be transported to the Paya Indah Wetland in Dengkil, Selangor where it will undergo a quarantine process to ensure it is free from disease. -- Bernama
