Ministry ready to provide counselling to girls in bus driver video

ALOR STAR: The Education Ministry is ready to provide counselling to schoolgirls from Johor seen in a viral video uploaded by a school bus driver.

"If there is a need, the Education Ministry, through the state Education Department and District Education Office, will provide counselling to the pupils concerned," said Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh.

"The ministry is always ready to help our children," he said after opening the Kedah DAP annual convention here today.

Present were state DAP chairman Tan Kok Yew and Kedah Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar.

Wong, who is a DAP central executive committee member, said the ministry would leave it to police to investigate the case.

"Police have taken action against the driver and launched an investigation."

Earlier today, the Batu Pahat magistrate's court issued a five-day remand order against the school bus driver.

He recently uploaded a video to TikTok showing primary school pupils on a bus and referred to one of them as his "crush". ()

The case is being investigated under Section 15(a)(III) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 and Section 15(2) of the Child Act 2001.

Taking photos or videos of children without parental consent violates the Child Act 2001.
