Suksis programme produces 19,072 graduates from 2022

BANGI: A total of 19,072 students have graduated from the Police Undergraduate Voluntary Corps (Suksis) since the programme was first recognised by police in 2002.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said out of these graduates, 1,205 have joined the police force as cadet inspectors.

"We will prioritise Suksis trainees when they apply to join as cadet inspectors due to their basic training. This is similar to how the Officer Cadet Reserve Training Team or military trainees are given priority after their commissioning," he said after attending the Suksis passing-out parade at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) here, today (Sept 7).

Also present was Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

Ayob said the Suksis programme lasts three years and allows trainees to complete their training at their respective universities.

"It includes basic training similar to that undergone by regular cadet inspectors, including drills, firearms and legal training. They also learn to handle equipment and weapons used by the police."

At the event earlier, 840 trainees from 17 public universities across Malaysia participated in the parade.

Ayob said there are 19 public universities that run the Suksis programme, with a total of 2,296 participants.

"At UKM, Suksis was established in 2004, and since then, 905 students have graduated from the programme."
