Teacher Sabrina to resume duties despite loss of baby: Fadhlina

ALOR GAJAH: The teacher whose baby boy died at a nursery in Taman Kelemak Utama here last Friday will return to work after the second mid-term school break, according to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

Fadhlina said that Sabrina Hakiem Zaini, 39, remains deeply committed to her duties as a teacher, despite the trials she is facing.

"(Sabrina will resume work) after this September break (the mid-term school holiday from Sept 13 to 21). She has decided to continue (her career as a teacher).

"She still shows a great passion for education and is a very committed teacher," she said after visiting Sabrina and her family in Taman Kelemak Utama today.

Fadhlina said that the Education Ministry will provide the teacher with full support and assistance, including the necessary preparations for her return to work.

"We will first focus on the psychosocial aspect and also the preparations for her to return to teaching, as she has been on leave for quite some time," she said.

The media previously reported that an eight-month-old baby boy died after being taken to Alor Gajah Hospital in an unconscious state.

Following the incident, the police arrested a 34-year-old married woman with three children at the nursery at 3.30 pm last Friday to assist with the investigation.

The baby's father Major Mohd Fikry Amri Abd Halim, 39, said his son Muhammad Al Fateh Amri had only been sent to the nursery for five days.

He never expected such a tragedy to occur, especially after his wife had taken unpaid leave to care for their child. — BERNAMA
