Jementah park to get RM199k revamp after years of neglect

SEGAMAT: The long-neglected recreational park at Lorong 9, Jementah, will undergo a RM199,000 upgrade funded by the Housing and Local Government Ministry's Chinese New Village Division.

Jementah assemblyman Ng Kor Sim said the park, in disrepair for over five years, had been a key space for community activities like exercise, dancing, and yoga, especially for the elderly and children.

The funds will be used for extensive repairs and upgrades, including the installation of 12 new streetlights, two spotlights, and a traditional Malay-style gazebo (wakaf).

The damaged pedestrian pathways and jogging track will also be restored, while the parking area will be resurfaced with premix asphalt, he said in a statement.

Ng added that the project would be awarded via open tender, with work slated to begin in early next month and completed by the year end.
