Pas has nothing to do with Global Ikhwan, says Hadi

TEMERLOH: Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has clarified that the Islamic party has no connections with the controversy surrounding GISB Sdn Bhd which made headlines following alleged links with child exploitation and child abuse.

Hadi said Pas or its members were not associated with GISB and they had nothing to do with the company.

"No ties with us (Pas). Although some international media tried to involve us, that is inaccurate. Not our members and nothing to do with us," he told reporters after delivering his policy speech at the 70th Pas annual 'muktamar' at the Al-Makmur complex in Kerdau here today.

However, Hadi did not divulge any information about what the international media claimed.

On Pas' stand on the incident involving GISB, Hadi said it was best to allow the police to conduct their investigations.

Meanwhile, Hadi said the party had adopted measures to ensure such incidents do not occur at Islamic kindergartens managed by Pas known as Pusat Asuhan Tunas Islam (Pasti), including having its own administration.

"In Pas, we have our own 'Lajnah Pendidikan' (the wing's national education) bureau and committees to manage the administration (of Pasti)," he said.

On Sept 11, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police rescued 402 minors from alleged exploitation in a major operation across at 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan. The homes were linked with GISB.

He said the children, aged between one and 17 years old are believed to be the children of members of GISB.

GISB has denied allegations linking the company, saying they were ready to cooperate with the authorities.
