TUMPAT: Pulau Sri Tanjung floating market, located near Rejuna island here, is the latest tourist attraction in Kelantan.
Teluk Rejuna village head Mohd Rokman Abdullah said besides offering a delightful array of food and drinks, visitors to the floating market could enjoy scenic boat rides and an authentic cultural experience.
"The floating market offers many delicious food and beverages for visitors, from traditional Malaysian dishes to refreshing drinks.
"Among the delightful food options are 'ketupat sotong' (squids stuffed with glutinuous rice and cooked in a salty gula Melaka gravy), 'kerabu Maggi' (instant noodle salad), 'lokan' (mud clams), crunchy baby crab and fresh coconut water," he said.
He said Pulau Sri Tanjung floating market was not just a place to shop and eat but also to relax.
"Apart from the food, visitors can get closer to nature and the vibrant local culture.
"They can embark on a scenic boat ride for a nominal fare. They can take the boat from the three jetties namely Jeti Kok Majid, Jeti Sungai Pinang and Jeti Kuala Besar," he added.
The market, which opens every Friday and Saturday, also provided boat services to its visitors.
"Visitors need to cross over a river to get here and there are many types of boats ready to send them to the floating market," he added.
He said the floating market not only attracted locals but also tourists.
"Many enjoy coming here as the place is almost similar to the famous Hatyai floating market. There are more than 10 decorated boats selling foods and drinks," he added.
