Police crackdown leads to closure of 15 GISB premises in Kelantan [WATCH]

KOTA BARU: A total of 15 business premises belonging to Global Ikhwan Sdn Bhd (GISB) in the state have ceased operations following a police crackdown in other states.

However, checks at its premises in the district last night revealed that several were still operating as usual. Among the GISB business premises in the district is one located along Jalan Long Yunus. Their businesses in the area include a restaurant, a bakery, and a hotel.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, said the police would continue to keep an eye on all premises belonging to GISB in Kelantan.

Razarudin said that he had directed the state police to monitor the premises closely.

"The police are still conducting investigations, and in Kelantan, I have instructed the state police to monitor GISB's premises," he said.

It was reported yesterday that Kelantan's religious authorities had identified 15 business premises belonging to GISB across four districts in the state.

Kelantan Islamic Development, Dakwah, Information and Regional Relations Committee chairman, Mohd Asri Mat Daud, said the premises were located in Kota Baru, Gua Musang, Pasir Puteh, and Tumpat.

He added that the state government, through the State Islamic Affairs and Religious Department (JAHEAIK) and the police, would monitor their activities.

"So far, we have not received any reports of illegal activities involving GISB in the state, but we will cooperate with the police on this matter," he added.

It is understood that nine of the 15 business premises are located in Kota Baru, three in Pasir Puteh, two in Gua Musang, and one in Tumpat.

Last Wednesday police raided several welfare homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan linked to GISBH. A total of 402 children, aged between 1 to 17, were rescued from alleged exploitation and abuse.

Razarudin previously said the victims endured various forms of exploitation and abuse, including some of them being sodomised.

He also said initial investigations revealed that caretakers had taught the children to sodomise other children.

GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd has since denied the allegations and any connection to the case.
