Maha 2024 records over RM14 mil sales, attracts 5 mil visitors

SERDANG: The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (Maha) 2024, which concluded today, recorded direct sales of over RM14 million, attracting nearly 5 million visitors to the 12-day event.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the Maha 2024 also witnessed the signing of 139 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) worth RM7.2 billion.

"I am very satisfied by the extraordinary achievements accomplished, especially the increase in seedling, sapling, and livestock sales", Mohamad said in his speech at the closing ceremony of Maha 2024 today.

He said that these are positive indicators of the public's rising interest in agriculture as well as awareness of the importance of food security.

"These numbers are not just statistics. They are a reflection that Maha remains the nation's premier event, attracting the attention of many", he said.

The 2024 edition of Maha focuses on elevating the event to an international level, with participation from various countries enhancing its global stature.

The closing ceremony included a prize presentation and the closing gimmick.

Mohamad also took the opportunity to thank the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali as it was his last day of service at the ministry.

The exhibition, which was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Sept 11, was held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

As of Sept 18, the exhibition has successfully achieved its target of three million visitors.

Mohamad had said that this level of attendance demonstrates strong community support for the event.
