KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in nearly all states until 7pm today.
Adverse weather is expected throughout Kuala Lumpur, Perlis, Penang, and Labuan as well as parts of Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.
The warning for Kedah covers Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.
In Perak, the affected districts are Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim while in Kelantan, affected areas include Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah and Gua Musang.
In Terengganu, residents can expect bad weather in Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman, while in Pahang, the affected areas are Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Jerantut and Rompin.
In Selangor, the affected areas are Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat while in Johor, affected areas include Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru.
The warning also covers Jelebu and Seremban in Negeri Sembilan.
Residents in Miri, Subis, Beluru, Limbang, and Marudi (Sarawak) and those in Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud (Sabah) can also expect bad weather.
"The warning is issued when there are signs indicating thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres (mm) per hour that are expected to last for an hour or more.
"A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a period not exceeding six hours for each issuance."
