Malaysia, Australia air forces begin joint exercise

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) is conducting a joint exercise with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

In a statement, the RMAF said three exercises that started yesterday will be held until next Saturday (Oct 5).

"The exercises, FTX Paradise 11/24, Elangaroo 24 and Daggert Ababil 24 will be conducted with the RAAF across several air bases throughout Peninsular Malaysia.

"Throughout the exercise period, military aircraft will conduct low altitude daytime flights in areas gazetted for training."

The RMAF said the training is conducted to ensure that its capability and readiness are always at their best, particularly in safeguarding the nation's airspace sovereignty.

"The joint exercise will also enhance the competence of RMAF personnel."

As such, the public is advised not to be alarmed or concerned if they observe RMAF and RAAF aircraft flying at low altitudes throughout the exercise.
