[UPDATED] Loke: Oct 10 deadline for digital ID login in MyJPJ app scrapped [WATCH]

PUTRAJAYA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the ministry has agreed to scrap the Oct 10 deadline set for MyJPJ users to log in to the application with a MyDigitalID.

He said the decision was made following complaints from users which have been pouring in since yesterday.

He said the pop-up in the application about the deadline has also been removed from the MyJPJ application and "back-end" integration would be made between the two applications.

"The Oct 10 date is cancelled... the important thing is the integration of the system must be 'back-ended' between the MyJPJ application and MyDigitalID to make it easier for users.

"MyJPJ has 10.5 million users, with some being very active, so the integration process will take some time.

"(The Road Transport Department) advises the public to access the MyJPJ (application) as usual. There is no deadline at the moment, and the public will be able to use the application as usual without any interruptions," he told reporters.

He also said the pop-up was added to the application without any discussion with the ministry.

Loke said RTD did not issue any official statement regarding the dateline.

Besides, he said the integration process "would take some time" to ensure swiftness and safety for the users.

"We will monitor the progress and make announcements from time to time to ensure a more secure and user-friendly login," he said.

Since yesterday, vehicle owners have taken to social media to vent their frustration after facing difficulties registering their details with the MyJPJ application.

Their frustration has intensified, as under the new requirement, Malaysians without a MyDigital ID can no longer log into the application starting Oct 10.

A notice in the latest update of the MyJPJ application has also advised users to register with MyDigital ID before the deadline to avoid any "sign-in difficulties".

In response, users have expressed their frustration, citing that obtaining a MyDigital ID takes a long time, even to register an account.
