13-year-old girl falls to her death from KL school building

KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old girl tragically fell to her death from several floors of a school building yesterday evening.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the incident, asking the public to respect the privacy of the victim and her family.

The Oriental Daily reported that Brickfields police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the victim had fallen from the eighth floor of the school building floor, classifying the case as sudden death (SDR) while investigating rumours of a possible suicide.

The girl lived in the school hostel. In a statement, the school said it was deeply saddened over her passing and extended condolences to her family, adding that authorities were alerted immediately after the incident.

Medical officers pronounced the student dead at the scene.

"To prevent psychological stress among other students, counsellors will continue to provide emotional support," the school added.

It also asked for the public to refrain from speculating about her death out of respect for the family.

The victim's sister has called on netizens to stop sharing the video online.
