GOPENG: The Perak government will follow Johor's footsteps in setting up a special committee to explore ways to rehabilitate and restore the faith of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) followers.
The matter was confirmed by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
"Of course, we will do it. We will have a Perak Islamic Religious Council Conference, and we will discuss it there as well.
"We need to look at this issue from every angle; we can't take it case by case. This also includes previous cases (deviant teaching) such as Al-Arqam and Rufaqa.
"I am not an expert in this matter, but we will bring it to the council conference soon," he told reporters after attending the opening ceremony of Terra Mineral Lab Sdn Bhd and the Centre of Excellence for Mineral Research here today.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi had recently said the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ) has formed a special committee to rehabilitate the faith of GISB followers.
Onn Hafiz had said that the committee has been tasked to draft works to restore the faith of GISB followers in Johor.
Last week, Saarani had said that as of Sept 26, a total of 55 children under the age of 12 have been rescued and are currently placed in a care center under the Perak Welfare Department.
