Netizens criticise MyDigital ID system despite MyJPJ usage postponement

KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens continued to voice their frustration over the MyDigital ID system despite the

announcement to scrap a deadline set for MyJPJ users to log into the application using the identification method.

Initially scheduled for Oct 10, the requirement has been postponed to ensure smoother service, according to a statement by MyDigital ID on Facebook today.

The Road Transport Department today apologised for the inconvenience caused. It explained the decision to delay the implementation of MyDigital ID as the sole login method was made to ensure seamless service delivery.

While the single sign-on feature has been temporarily suspended, MyDigital ID remains an available login option for users, it said,

Despite the postponement, social media users took to the comment section to share their dissatisfaction.

A netizen only known as Hamizan, suggested a traditional login method should remain an option instead of fully transitioning to MyDigital ID.

"There should be an alternative traditional login method. Transition slowly, don't jump straight to fully using MyDigital ID."

Another social media user Fiona Amazing4 expressed concern about the system's readiness.

"Make sure it's stable before announcing it… don't give people more headaches. They already have a lot to deal with."

Syefry Moniz criticised the growing number of apps and systems required to be used by consumers for services.

"How many apps and systems do we need to use? It's making things difficult for the public. Can you create a WhatsApp group between agencies and discuss (among yourselves)?"

Joannie Chan also questioned the necessity of MyDigital ID for accessing MyJPJ.

"Both apps should work separately. Why use MyDigital ID just to access the MyJPJ app when it's been working fine for a while? This doesn't make sense and is ridiculous."

Since yesterday, vehicle owners took to social media to vent their frustration after facing difficulties registering their details with the MyJPJ application.

Their frustration intensified because initially, under the new requirement, Malaysians without a MyDigital ID could no longer log into the application starting Oct 10.

However, Transport Minister Anthony Loke in a press conference yesterday said the ministry agreed to scrap the Oct 10 deadline set for MyJPJ users to log in to the application with a MyDigital ID.

He had said the pop-up in the application about the deadline has also been removed from the MyJPJ application and "back-end" integration would be made between the two applications.
