KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens are criticising the actions of certain families in Kota Baru, Kelantan, who are treating the dangerous floodwater like a "waterpark".
In a TikTok video posted by user SY42W417, several families, including children, are seen seemingly swimming in the floodwater, while dozens of others are braving the knee-deep water.
In the comments section, many netizens have voiced concerns about the filthy and disease-ridden nature of the floodwater, with some reporting that their children have fallen ill as a result.
User sue_suhaimi104 said her children had previously gotten a fever, diarrhoea, and vomiting after playing in floodwater.
"I regret allowing my children to play in the floodwater. After the flood, all of them had fevers, diarrhoea, and vomiting," she said.
Another user, teume, said the area is full of waste and rats.
"The area near the shops has a lot of waste and rats, and yet they are swimming there."
User DrAnorHidayah warned that people are at risk of leptospirosis and typhoid when playing in floodwater.
