KUALA LUMPUR: A leader from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has called on the authorities to provide updates on investigations into several high-profile cases.
Its youth permanent chairman Zahin Zainal said one of them was the investigation into alleged corruption involving former Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar's aides, which commenced last year.
"Armada urges the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) to explain why there has been no prosecution to date.
"Is it because no misconduct was found in the probe?" he stated at a press conference today.
It was reported that five of Sivakumar's officers, implicated in investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) concerning the recruitment of foreign workers, have had their contracts terminated.
Zahin said MACC has summoned Sivakumar on Apr 16, conducted a raid on his house and office the next day and recorded his statement on Apr 19.
"However, we find it strange that the case is now silent.
"We demand MACC to explain the status of the case."
He also asked about the probe into former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff who had his statement taken by the police in November last year over a lewd viral video clip.
"Media reported that the investigation paper had been completed and submitted to the A-GC on Dec 18, but until today no prosecution has been conducted.
"What happened to the sexual harassment case?" he said.
He said the people, as stakeholders, have faith in the community agent and its name must be restored.
Meanwhile, the politician also called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take action against Bloomberg over its news report of alleged directives to halt investigations into his former political secretary Datuk Farhash Wafa Salvador.
"The prime minister has been very vocal in voicing out against Israeli atrocities.
"As concerned citizens, we demand him to take action, when it comes to matters (affecting him), he should be more stern and call Bloomberg (representatives) to his office (over the news report)."
Zahin, who is also Perikatan Nasional youth election director, went as far as volunteering to 'help' in contacting the media agency and giving a one-week ultimatum to Anwar to update the next course of action.
While the MACC has denied receiving directives, Zahin said stern action should be taken against the media agency on the report, which Zahin said has effects on the prime minister and the country's reputation.
During the press conference, Zahin also questioned the sale of MAHB's shares to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), owned by BlackRock, a pro-Zionist company.
He asked whether MAHB's stakeholders, namely, Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), the Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) and Employees Provident Fund (EPF) agreed to the share disposal.
Anwar has assured the management of GIP would be fully controlled by the company and not the American asset management company, which is known to have pro-Israeli links.
