Pahang palace: No royal wedding involving Tengku Mahkota as claimed in viral post

KUANTAN: The Pahang palace has denied claims in a viral social media post that the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang had gotten married.

In a posting on the Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page, the palace the Instagram posting from Sept 24 was defamatory.

The viral posting uploaded by a user identified as Farida.1111111 had displayed a paper with the words 'Istiadat Perkahwinan Diraja antara Tengku Hassanal dan Cik Farida Daud' (Royal Wedding Ceremony between Tengku Hassanal and Miss Farida Daud).

"The Pahang palace has identified the defamatory messages uploaded by the individual. The Pahang palace urges the public not to believe any statements on social media apart from the ones uploaded by 'Istana Pahang' and 'Kesultanan Pahang' social media platforms.

"The information (uploaded by the Instagram user) is fake and has nothing to do with the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang or the Pahang palace. Stern action can be taken against the individual or any parties who make slanderous postings on social media to disrupt harmony, especially the Pahang palace," said the posting on the Kesultanan Pahang page.

In July this year, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had, in a series of posts on his Instagram stories, requested that people respect his decision and privacy regarding personal matters such as marriage and dismissed rumours that he was tying the knot soon.
