Cops tracking woman behind royal wedding rumour involving Pahang crown prince

KUANTAN: Police are tracking down a woman who had allegedly claimed in a social media posting that she was tying the knot with Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, next year.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said an an investigation paper had been opened to probe the matter under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

"We are in the midst of investigating and tracking down the woman to assist with investigations for defamation and dissemination of untrue contents," he said when contacted today.

On Tuesday, the Pahang palace had dismissed allegations that the crown prince would be getting married in April next year as claimed in an Instagram post by a user going by the handle of @faridah.ad_1.

The woman had claimed to be marrying the crown prince.

On Oct 3, a user going by the handle @Farida.1111111, believed to be the same person, featured an image of a paper reading: "Istiadat Perkahwinan Diraja antara Tengku Hassanal dan Cik Farida Daud" (Royal Wedding Ceremony between Tengku Hassanal and Miss Farida Daud).
