KUALA LUMPUR: A health advocacy group has raised concerns over electronic cigarettes and vaping devices that allegedly resemble school stationery and are available in the market.
Public Health Malaysia, in a recent post on its social media platforms, urged the public—especially parents and teachers—to be on alert about these devices that resemble school stationery.
"To all parents and teachers, please be alert to the designs of these vape devices.
"At first glance, they look like marker pens and glue sticks. There is even a design that resembles a pencil," the group said in the social media postings on Oct 3.
The posting was accompanied by several pictures of the vaping devices that resembled the design of a marker pen and a glue stick.
Meanwhile, many social media users have expressed concern over the matter in the comment section of the social media postings.
"I hope the government will introduce strict regulations on the sale of vape products," said one user, Mohd Hafiez.
Another social media user, Maznah Hj Ibrahim, called for greater awareness of the detrimental effects of vaping among people, especially teenagers.
"We must continue educating parents and children as well as teenagers on the dangers of vaping," she wrote.
