Single mother lauds Johor govt switch to Saturday, Sunday weekend

JOHOR BARU: Single mother of two, Kara Syafinaz Basirrudin, 49, is ecstatic to hear of the move to revert the weekend break to Saturday and Sunday beginning next year.

She said reverting to the weekends adhered to by the federal government and private companies would allow her to negotiate her schedule better.

"My 20-year-old son is studying in Kota Tinggi, while my 18-year-old daughter is in Kuala Lumpur. My mother is based in Negri Sembilan, and she is not as fit as she used to be.

As a single mother, it's difficult to juggle my time and schedule to fit everyone as the weekends observed by the federal government and Johor was different.

"With the switch next year, I will get to spend more time and set my schedule better, " she said.
