Kuen Cheng High School denies link between bullying videos and student's death

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuen Cheng High School has denied any connection between bullying videos that went viral recently and the incident involving a student who fell to her death.

In a statement, the school said the unidentified girls featured in the videos were not their students.

"Today, it has come to our attention that there had been attempts to link two videos circulating on social media showing the bullying of several girls with the incident (of the student falling to her death) for the purpose of misleading the public and spreading false news.

"The girls who appeared in the videos are not students of Kuen Cheng High School, and the location where the videos were taken is unknown and unrelated to the school," it said.

The school had lodged a report and called on the public to approach the matter rationally, exercise caution and avoid spreading unverified information to prevent unnecessary fear and misunderstanding.

"Kuen Cheng High School reserves the right to take legal action at the appropriate juncture against those who spread false news."

On Oct 2, it was reported that a 13-year-old girl fell to her death from several floors of a school building. The girl lived in the school's hostel.
