Anwar holds bilateral talks with Timor-Leste, Singapore Prime Ministers at Asean Summit

VIENTIANE: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Timor-Leste and Singapore.

The meetings took place in conjunction with the 44th and 45th Asean Summits and Related summits, taking place here.

In the morning, Anwar attended a bilateral meeting with Timor-Leste Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão which lasted for 15 minutes at the National Convention Centre here.

Among the topics discussed by the two leaders was Timor-Leste's full membership in the Asean bloc, which is believed to have the potential to expand and develop the regional economic sector.

Timor-Leste is still awaiting the consensus decision from Asean countries to be accepted as a full member of the regional bloc.

The bilateral meeting with Singapore Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, took place in the afternoon for about half an hour at a hotel here.

The leaders discussed issues related to cooperation between Malaysia and Singapore.
