Kedah evacuees down to 3,400 amid improved weather

ALOR STAR: The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has slightly decreased to about 3,400 as weather conditions improved this afternoon.

According to a 4pm update from the Kedah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, there are currently 3,474 evacuees from 1,113 households being sheltered in 24 temporary flood relief centres (PPS).

This reflects a slight decline from the 3,503 evacuees reported earlier today, despite increases in Kota Setar and Pendang.

In Kota Setar, the number of evacuees has risen to 1,260 from 392 families, up from 1,197 from 373 families earlier.

In Pendang, 470 evacuees from 125 families are now in two PPS, an increase from 433 evacuees.

Conversely, Kubang Pasu saw a decline, with 1,227 evacuees from 412 families currently in nine PPS, down from 1,324.

Pokok Sena also experienced a decrease, with numbers dropping from 549 evacuees to 517 across 184 families in four PPS.

Meanwhile, the Drainage and Irrigation Department's Public Infobanjir website indicated that five rivers in Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar had breached danger levels and are on the rise.
