ALOR STAR: The flood situation in Kedah has continued to improve, with the number of evacuees decreasing to 6,268 as of 8am today.
Sik district has fully recovered, with two temporary flood relief centres (PPS) sheltering 203 evacuees closed yesterday evening.
According to an update from the Kedah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, the remaining evacuees from 1,902 families are being housed in 31 PPS across four districts.
Conditions are improving in Kota Setar, Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, and Padang Terap, as more evacuees have been allowed to return home.
In Kota Setar, the hardest-hit district, 4,143 evacuees from 1,254 families are still taking refuge in 18 PPS. In Kubang Pasu, 1,460 evacuees from 454 families are sheltering in nine PPS, while in Pokok Sena, three PPS remain active, housing 524 evacuees from 159 families.
In Padang Terap, 141 evacuees from 35 families in Felda Lubuk Merbau are still taking shelter at the Dewan Badminton PPS.
