Pupil sexually harassed by school vice-principal to get counselling services

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry is ready to provide counselling services to a 12-year-old female pupil from Ipoh who was reported yesterday to have been sexually harassed by her school vice-principal.

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Wong said the counselling process has always been available for the pupil's usage following the case.

"The process is ready at any time. The most important part is to protect our kids, especially individual students. We need to ensure that everything can be handled well.

"As far as counselling (service) is concerned, the District Education Office and State Education Department are always ready," Wong told the media after officiating the "Let's Regain Our Roar" Fund Raising High Tea Forum here.

Yesterday, China Press reported that a male vice-principal of a Chinese primary school in Ipoh allegedly sent indecent photos to a pupil.

He was also accused of kissing and hugging the pupil in a classroom.

According to the China Press report, the student's mother found indecent photos in her daughter's phone that were sent by the vice-principal in September and 'taught' the pupil on how to have sex.

The pupil was contacted by her vice-principal through WeChat and Instagram.

Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris confirmed that they have received reports regarding the case and informed that the details of the case would be released tomorrow.

As a response, yesterday, Wong said the ministry had taken relevant action after receiving the report on the case and the individual involved in the incident had been transferred out from the school.
