Missing boy's mutilated body found in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: A 9-year-old boy who went missing while swimming at Sinakut Beach, Felda Sahabat 16, here, was found this morning in a mutilated state, believed to have been attacked by a crocodile.

The boy's body was discovered along the beach, not far from where he was reported missing.

Lahad Datu Wildlife Department officer Silvester Saimin said the discovery was made at 7.45am today.

According to initial reports, the tragedy happened while the victim and his family were on holiday visiting relatives in Kampung Sinakut.

"The victim, who was swimming with five friends, is believed to have been dragged into the sea by a crocodile before being washed ashore."

The department is continuing its investigation, and the victim's body has been sent to Lahad Datu Hospital.
