LAHAD DATU: The Sabah Wildlife Department shot and killed a male crocodile at an oil palm plantation in Block 25, Felda Sahabat, here, on Monday.
The saltwater crocodile, estimated to weigh over 250kg, was found after reportedly attacking a cow.
Lahad Datu Wildlife Department officer Sylvester Saimin said they received information about the crocodile in the plantation area from local villagers.
He said the presence of the crocodile had caused concern among residents after it attacked a cow.
"The male crocodile, measuring over 4m in length, was found in a small stream.
"The team shot the animal dead with two rounds of gunfire," he said when contacted.
Due to the large size of the crocodile, the operation team had to use a bulldozer to lift and transport the animal to another location.
The carcass was then buried.
