'I cried because he was willing to forgive my wife', says Azhar

DUNGUN: "I cried because Muhammad Ammar Danish was willing to forgive my wife who hit him and three of his friends, who lost their lives in the accident last Wednesday night. I know this test is very heavy, but he still forgave," said Azhar Ahmad, the husband of the female driver involved in the accident that claimed the lives of three students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun.

In the incident at 7.20pm, Muhammad Ammar Danish Mohammad Ridhuan, 20, was the only injured survivor, while his three friends - Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin, 25; Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi, 20; and Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, 20 - died at the scene.

Azhar, 53, said he now feels relieved after his apology was accepted by Muhammad Ammar Danish and his family today, following a meeting as soon as the student was discharged from Dungun Hospital at 12.30pm.

"No one wanted this to happen," Muhammad Ammar Danish said.

"Even while still in pain from the accident, Muhammad Ammar Danish accepted my apology, saying that no one wanted such a thing to occur.

"That made me cry, and I am very grateful that he was willing to forgive me and my wife," he said.

Azhar said that he had also met the parents of the student, Muhammad Ridhuan Mohd Shariff, 52, and Siti Asiah Abdullah Sani, 48, last night.

"I met with them, and the couple was also willing to forgive what happened. I know it is not easy, but at least their willingness to forgive lightens my burden, as I feel very remorseful about the incident involving my wife.

"They are a very kind family and understand the situation," he said.

Azhar also expressed his gratitude for the willingness of the families of the late Ku Adib Aizad and Khairil to forgive the wrongdoing.

"I am thankful and very happy after reading the newspaper report yesterday, that they accepted my apology.

"I am also prepared to meet all the victims' families as soon as they are ready to welcome me. I understand the feelings of those who have lost loved ones due to this unfortunate incident, and I am willing to wait as long as they are willing to meet," he said.
