BATU PAHAT: A lorry caused a six-vehicle accident at the Sri Medan traffic light intersection, here, yesterday.
However, no injuries were reported in the accident, which occurred at 3.47pm.
A preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the lorry was driven by a 46-year-old man travelling from Parit Sulong to Johor Baru.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the lorry experienced a brake malfunction upon reaching the intersection, and crashed into four cars and two motorcycles which had stopped at the traffic light.
He added that the lorry driver tested negative for drugs.
The lorry has been impounded for further inspection at the Batu Pahat Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
