DAP rep submits letter to Sabah CM declining Datukship

KOTA KINABALU: Likas assemblyman Datuk Tan Lee Fatt of DAP has submitted a letter to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, declining his Datukship title.

Tan, who is also the state Assistant Finance Minister, was one of the recipients of the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) award, which carries the title 'Datuk,' during the 71st Birthday Celebration of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin earlier this month.

"I have declined it.

"However, let's wait and see whether they accept it or not," he said when met during the Integrity and Governance Convention at the Sabah International Convention Centre here.

Tan added that, for now, he has yet to receive a response from the DAP central committee regarding the title.

He also said he has not yet received an official letter from the Sabah palace concerning the Datukship title.

"I have yet to receive the letter (despite it having been gazetted). So, I don't know how to explain," he said.
