KUALA LUMPUR: An initial inspection found that a blocked drainage system along Jalan G2, Taman Melawati, caused water overflow at the site of the landslide earlier today.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said four houses and a car were affected in the 10.15am incident along Jalan E6 and Jalan G2.
No casualties have been reported, he said.
"The Works Department (JKR) slope engineering branch (CKC) issued a 'danger level' warning to the Gombak and Hulu Langat district JKR offices at 4.37pm yesterday to take precautionary measures.
"This early warning was also relayed to Ampang Jaya Municipal Council representatives yesterday," he said in a Facebook posting.
He said he had instructed the CKC team to visit the site for a more detailed assessment.
He urged the residents to comply with the authorities' instructions to avoid untoward incidents.
Continuous heavy rains this morning led to a landslide in Taman Melawati, where a slope collapsed from a height of 30 meters.
