Yusof Haslam stays put, taking proactive measures to safeguard mansion

AMPANG: Renowned director and producer Datuk Yusof Haslam will not relocate to safer ground in light of a massive landslide that occurred 400 metres from his luxurious six-storey mansion in Taman Melawati, Ulu Klang.

The celebrity, known for the popular series "Gerak Khas", has no such plans as he believes he has taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of his mansion and the surrounding area.

He made this statement after a landslide struck a slope at Jalan E6, near his house, early on Tuesday morning.

"I have witnessed soil erosion around this area and have taken proactive steps to protect and maintain my property, although the cost can be considerable. I typically address issues such as broken drains, clogged drains, and other repairs on my own, without relying on the local council," he told Sinar Plus.

"This includes hiring an engineer to install retaining walls," he added.

He said that homeowners must also recognise the importance of individual responsibility in maintaining safety and infrastructure in residential areas.

"We must understand that the local council has many other areas to monitor as well. I personally check the area around my house every week with my workers.

It definitely incurs a high cost, but we need to prioritise safety, and I make sure to take care of all these aspects."

"However, if something were to happen, I would consider it Allah SWT's will," he said.
