BALING: The Islamic Aid Malaysia (IAM) in collaboration with Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) distributed aid to underprivileged families in Baling affected by the recent floods.
IAM president Zawahir Abdullah said the aid was distributed directly by IAM volunteers and Ekuinas staff at the Al-Falah Surau in Kampung Sri Ketengga in Siong subdistrict.
He said each recipient received a food basket containing daily essentials such as rice, sugar, milk, cooking oil, flour, and sardines.
"To fulfil the mission of assisting the underprivileged, especially those affected by flood disasters, Islamic Aid Malaysia in collaboration with Ekuinas has launched the 'Kedah Flood Victims Aid Programme'.
"This aid focuses on the underprivileged, particularly the asnaf community, who have been affected by the recent floods in Kedah," he said in a statement.
Zawahir expressed his gratitude to Ekuinas for supporting the humanitarian efforts IAM carried out.
'We hope this assistance can help alleviate some of the burden during this rising living cost. This aid mission proves that we are attentive to the needs of the local community.
"This is an emergency programme to assist flood victims. This involves visiting affected locations and providing food packages to reduce the hardship they are facing," he said.
Zawahir said in addition to the food packages, they would also consider other necessary assistance, which will involve the participation of IAM volunteers and Ekuinas staff.
