TNB cuts power in Seri Iskandar amid rising floodwaters

IPOH: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has cut off the electricity supply to several substations in Seri Iskandar to ensure the safety of consumers following the floods.

In a Facebook post, TNB said the areas affected by the power cuts include Kampung Pasir Garam, Kampung Pasir Putih and Kampung Pulau Tiga Kiri.

"Up to 11.30am today, TNB has shut off the electricity supply in Seri Iskandar due to rising flood levels," the statement said.

TNB also advised people to practise electrical safety during flooding by avoiding contact with electrical appliances, outlets and switches if they are standing in water.

Up to 2pm today, 1,548 people are seeking shelter at 11 temporary relief centres.

Kuala Kangsar is the worst-hit flood area, with 903 victims, followed by Hilir Perak (330), Perak Tengah (210), Kerian (64) and Kampar (41).
