KUALA LUMPUR: The government is allocating RM100 million to strengthen health Centres of Excellence in the country, including funding for the latest equipment.
"It must be acknowledged that the best health experts in the country serve in government hospitals, including in Centres of Excellence such as Serdang Hospital for heart treatment, Selayang Hospital for transplant and hepatobiliary services, the National Cancer Institute in Putrajaya, the Putrajaya Endocrine Institute, the Urology and Nephrology Institute at Hospital Kuala Lumpur , and the Women and Children Hospital in Kuala Lumpur," said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the 2025 Budget tabling.
To strengthen the identified Centres of Excellence, the government is providing an allocation of RM100 million, including for the acquisition of the latest equipment, said Anwar.
In addition to the existing centres of excellence, the government is also initiating plans to establish a Cancer Centre in Kuching and a Heart Specialist Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, he added.
