UDA-Bank Islam partnership to boost property development, sustainability

KEPALA BATAS: UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA) continues to strengthen property development and enhance environmental sustainability initiatives through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd (Bank Islam) here recently.

Through this collaboration, Bank Islam will provide comprehensive financing for residential and commercial properties, the purchase of solar panels, electric vehicle (EV) wall chargers and other renewable energy-related solutions, as well as financing for renovations and the purchase of furniture and fittings.

UDA president and chief executive officer Datuk Sr Mohd Salem Kailany said the strategic collaboration aligns with UDA's sustainability goals, which aim to empower a sustainable lifestyle by promoting the use of renewable energy.

He said this initiative also reflected UDA's commitment to balancing development with sustainability and supporting the government's aspirations for achieving national sustainability by 2050.

"Through this partnership, UDA also has the opportunity to expand the marketing of its residential property products and introduce housing financing packages and additional financing options from Bank Islam.

"We hope this agreement benefits both parties and invigorates the property development sector, contributing to economic growth and advancing the MADANI economy initiative," he added.

The collaboration between UDA and Bank Islam addresses three out of the nine Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) being implemented by UDA, namely SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG11 (Sustainable Communities & Cities), and SDG13 (Climate Action), which are globally recognised.

This also aligns with UDA's tagline LIFE, which stands for Legacy, Integrated, Finesse and Enrich, to focus on sustainable development and environmental sustainability.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Crescent Dew Clubhouse in Bertam here on Friday.

The MoU was signed by UDA Group chief operating officer (property development) Noor Azmi Salleh and Bank Islam retail banking and distribution director Zamree Mohamed.

Noor Azmi said the collaboration is aimed at promoting and expanding the marketing of UDA's property products nationwide, besides introducing comprehensive financing packages from Bank Islam to prospective buyers.

"This is a starting point, with potential for further collaboration through sustainable programmes that benefit both parties, in line with the ESG agenda — Environment, Social and Governance.

"I hope that this collaboration will benefit both parties and the communities in UDA's development and business regions nationwide," he added.

Zamree said the MoU marked an important milestone for Bank Islam as it demonstrated their commitment to delivering the best value for their customers, strengthening strategic cooperation, and expanding access to affordable housing.

He said Bank Islam's provision of comprehensive syariah-compliant financing solutions was a testament to their dedication to their customers.

"In addition to offering attractive benefits, Bank Islam's promotional profit rates for home financing are now available from as low as 3.80 per cent per annum, making it one of the most competitive in the market.

"To assist customers in owning their dream homes, we also provide supplementary financing to support home renovations, furniture purchases and other necessities. Our focus for the coming year is clear. We aim to enhance customer engagement while introducing financial solutions that support UDA's development projects through collaborative promotional initiatives.

"To achieve these goals, we will participate in promotional initiatives organised by UDA. Bank Islam is committed to supporting our strategic partners and ensuring the success of the programmes organised," he said.
