Spreading joy: Yayasan Petronas brightens Deepavali for 50 families

KOTA BARU: Yayasan Petronas spread early Deepavali cheer to 50 B40 families in Kelantan tonight, with donations presented by state Women and Family Development and Welfare Deputy Committee chairman Nor Asilah Mohamed Zin.

Petronas East Coast general manager Mohamad Ahmad Shazly Ramli was also in attendance at the ceremony held at a local hotel.

Ahmad Shazly in his speech said that the families were from three districts: Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai, and Kota Baru.

"Yayasan Petronas aims to create a long-term impact through community festival programmes, bringing joy to those celebrating Deepavali," he said.

"'Yayasan Petronas - Memacu Kehidupan: Deepavali 2024' focuses on enhancing well-being and community development, aiming to improve the living standards of underserved individuals," he added.

This year, Yayasan Petronas, in collaboration with the Welfare Department, has identified 1,600 families across 11 Malaysian states to receive donations totaling RM320,000.

In Kelantan, 50 families will receive essential food items and traditional Deepavali snacks, such as murukku.

Ahmad Shazly said that Kelantan was the first state to launch this programme in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration.
