SHAH ALAM: The tremors and and explosions felt around Ipoh on Monday will be discussed in Friday's Cabinet meeting.
Unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said he still had not receive the latest information from the Mineral and Geoscience Department on the cause of the tremors.
"We have to wait for this week's Cabinet meeting on Friday. I have yet to receive the latest (information) from the Mineral and Geoscience Department," he said when asked about the cause of the incident.
Fahmi was speaking to reporters after attending a Ministerial Talk at Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam.
On Monday, several areas in Ipoh reportedly experienced tremors and explosions in the morning.
Social media users reported feeling tremors in Medan Istana, Tasek, Stadium Perak, Meru, Falim, Klebang, Manjoi and Tanjung Rambutan.
Perak police said they are investigating the incident.
Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said checks with the Ulu Kinta General Operations Force revealed there was no training related to explosions conducted and that no explosion took place in the quarry areas scheduled before noon.
The Royal Malaysian Air Force clarified that no flights were conducted around Ipoh and denied speculations that a foreign aircraft had breached the country's airspace.
Malaysian Space Agency director-general Azlikamil Napiah also said the tremors and explosions were not caused by the Orionid meteor shower.
