IPOH: In line with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 blueprint, Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) is spearheading transformational efforts through strategic property developments, acting as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation.
PKNPk chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak said PKNPk had achieved significant milestones this year, guided by the Perak Sejahtera 2030 framework.
He said these accomplishments reflected the organisation's collective efforts and potential.
"Our flagship project, the Silver Valley Technology Park (SVTP), is progressing well and is expected to create 13,000 job opportunities for the people of Perak. This initiative, in collaboration with Perak Corporation Berhad and Advancecon Development, aims to stimulate local economic growth by fostering high-tech industries and reinforcing Perak's position as a leader in innovation and industry," he said during a Nasi Lemak Kopi O session with media members at Cafe Lake View 2 in Tasik Cermin today.
Regarding the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC), Redza said that it is set to provide 51,000 jobs, making it one of the most significant industrial developments in the state.
He also pointed out that, as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim mentioned in his recent Budget 2025 speech, this project was central to Malaysia's industrial strategy.
"Our collaboration with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges International is a key component of LuMIC's development, positioning Perak as a major maritime and industrial hub in the region. With recognition from the recent budget and acknowledgment by the EU Government as part of its Global Gateway projects, LuMIC is poised to transform Lumut into a global maritime centre," he added.
Redza said that PKNPk was committed to renewable energy initiatives, highlighting the Solar Street Lighting Project.
Through its subsidiary, Pengurusan Murni Sdn Bhd, PKNPk has installed 75 solar-powered street lights at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah.
"This is just the beginning of a larger plan, following the direction of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad to install solar-powered street lights throughout the state. This initiative marks a significant step toward reducing carbon emissions and lowering energy costs," he said.
PKNPk is also advancing in renewable energy projects, such as the Large Scale Solar initiative.
Its subsidiary, Majuperak Holdings Berhad, is collaborating with VSD Automation Sdn Bhd to bid for the Fifth Large Scale Solar (LSS5) project, aiming to generate 60 MW of power with an estimated investment of RM180 million. Additionally, Majuperak has partnered with TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd to develop a 100 MW solar park on 400 acres of land, representing a RM300 million investment that will significantly bolster Perak's green energy portfolio.
Furthermore, Redza said that the innovative Hybrid Floating Solar Project at the Chenderoh and Temengor dams featuring floating solar plants would harness solar power from the surface of water reservoirs while preserving the surrounding ecosystems.
"These projects will support Perak's energy needs while promoting environmental sustainability. As part of our broader renewable energy initiative, they represent the future of green energy in the state," he said.
On the topic of Darul Ridzuan Utility Corridor Sdn Bhd, he said that its critical role was to ensure the safety and reliability of utilities, which is essential for societal well-being and accident prevention.
"Recently, KUDR and the Ipoh City Council (MBI) agreed to collaborate to enhance utility management in Ipoh. Starting July 1 this year, all requests to install utilities — such as water pipes, electricity cables, gas pipes, and other underground utilities — on MBI-maintained roads must be submitted through a new online system called Kudrat," he added.
