Sri Lankan worker dies in fall from overpass in JB

JOHOR BARU: A Sri Lankan factory worker died after falling off an overpass after trying to evade an inspection by the Immigration Department here yesterday.

Johor Baru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said in the 4.48pm incident, the victim fell on top of a Perodua Myvi, which was passing by the spot connecting JB Sentral to the Sultan Iskandar Building.

"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by an assistant medical officer from the Sultanah Aminah Hospital.

"Initial investigations found that the victim attempted to evade an inspection by the Immigration officials.

"The victim's body was brought to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem. No criminal elements were found and the death is classified as sudden death," Raub said.

Earlier, several pictures of the incident went viral on social media.
